Billy Joel Cancels Tour Amid Health Concerns
Billy Joel, the beloved legendary musician, has announced the cancellation of his concert tour due to a recently diagnosed health issue. The 76-year-old star revealed on Friday that he has been diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, a condition that has reportedly worsened with his recent performances, affecting his hearing, vision, and balance.
In a heartfelt statement, Joel expressed his regrets: “I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding.” This decision comes as he follows medical advice to suspend performing while he undergoes physical therapy.
Fans eagerly anticipating his shows will be disappointed, as all scheduled concerts through early July 2026 are now canceled. Ticket holders will automatically receive refunds for their purchases.

Understanding Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus
Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) is a neurological condition that arises when excessive cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain’s ventricles, exerting pressure and disrupting normal brain function. Most often affecting older adults, the symptoms can include cognitive challenges, difficulties in balance, and issues related to urinary control.
Dr. Jon LaPook, CBS News’ chief medical correspondent, elaborated on the condition, stating that NPH can occur unexpectedly, and its cause is not clearly understood. Fortunately, early diagnosis and treatment, often involving a shunting procedure to drain excess fluid, can lead to significant improvement in symptoms.
Billy Joel’s fans are hopeful for a full recovery and eagerly await news of his return to the stage.
