Road Rage Incident Results in Injury and Arrest in Colorado Springs
A shooting occurred Wednesday evening around 7 p.m. near the intersection of North Academy Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway, leaving one individual injured and prompting the arrest of a suspect. The Colorado Springs Police Department has indicated that the incident appears to have originated from a road rage confrontation.
Details of the Incident
According to court documents, Michael Brodus, a 29-year-old resident of Colorado Springs, faces serious charges including first-degree assault following a shooting in the 4200 block of Austin Bluffs. Reports indicate that Brodus allegedly utilized an AK-47 style rifle during the altercation, injuring a minor in the process.
The victim, a 17-year-old male, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his arms, which were categorized as non-life-threatening. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.

A witness subsequently provided authorities with a video of the incident, which was shared on social media.
The footage depicted a man firing several shots from behind the open driver’s door of a blue Subaru, prompting the witness to report the vehicle’s license plate number to law enforcement. This information led to the identification of Brodus as the main suspect. Upon visiting Brodus’ residence, police found him in possession of bags from the blue Subaru and dressed similarly to the individual seen in the video.
Continuing Investigation
As of now, the weapon used in the shooting has not been recovered by the police, and investigations are ongoing. Brodus is currently remanded in the El Paso County Jail with a bond set at $100,000. He is scheduled to appear in court next on June 16.
